The first year

I met her in winter, when snow covered the ground.
She came to me, said she knew me from around.
And when sat at my table, I sighed.
Then I let the winter pass us by.

Later, in springtime, I puffed-out my cheeks,
I was scared that she would not remember me,
So, I asked her to come over and I hoped she would stay.
That was springtime and it got away.

And in the summer it was wonderful,
She was so good to me,
And, you know, I loved her so,
Then the summer too, it passed us by.

Now it is autumn and I love her still.
But next year - I’m thinking about leaving this town.
And I told my baby, and she broke down and cried.
